Hello, I'm currently into my last year of University and I'm in need of a new laptop. I have always been a Windows user but have been interested in getting a Mac. I'm considering in getting a 13" Macbook Pro. My knowledge of iOS is minimal. Basically I want to know if I really should go down the route of a Mac. It is already stretching my budget but I feel its a worthy investment. I'm preparing for a bombardment of working coming soon.

How does a Mac hold up for programming? Can I only use Visual Studio in boot camp?

First thing iOS is for the mobile devices - the MBP uses OSX. I feel the Mac is a worthwhile investment as it does everything I need to do.

Visual Studio will work fine in boot camp.

Boot camp is just a little bit of software OSX uses to set up dual booting for windows :) so yeah all windows apps will run fine as you'll have w7 to boot into as well for special stuff (I use it to run games)

My mac has been a pretty solid investment, it cost me £1250 with the HE discount (make sure you get that whilst you are at uni as its 14% off the mac and 3 years free hardware fixing and support which is also awesome) and now I would estimate its still worth about £600 after 2-2.5 years which isn't bad for a c2d laptop with a 9600m in it. Though money isn't everything as the awesomeness of it has made it priceless to me :)
