Found this on Gamespot, you get to play as PM\president of a choice of countries, and implement various policies etc. Basically a lot like Championship Manager but with politics. You get various approval ratings\situation alerts\stats on your main screen. Theres a playable demo that lets you do one run of the UK premiership.

The goal is to keep enough people happy to get re-elected after 4 years game time. Bit simple because there isn't too much in the way of PR options or press grilling, but strangely compelling nonetheless...

Never played the game but I heard it done well for an indie game, there was a podcast interview with the developer on this site - http://www.indiegamepod.com/

From what I remember he was an ex lionhead employee and I think he kinda blagged his way in, was interesting listening.

Its a pretty good game. Democracy 2 is also out but it doesn't feature real countries but there is a mod of them. Haven't played the 2nd one myself.

But I got rid of all smokers in the UK with the first game! :D

I bought democracy 2 after reading the review in PC Gamer yesterday, even my wife has got into it.

Ive still not managed to stay a whole term of office yet, im thinking i should perhaps have to become a dictatorship, its quite a balancing act, but for £13, its fantastic value.

Any idea on the mod for real countries, and where to get it? Google hasnt thrown anything up so far (that stands out anyway).
