Hi. I changed provider in september to Demon internet (from these forums), and i was really hapy with them until today.

received a letter saying I had used 55Gigs in december and so for the next month my internet will be limited to 128kbps between 9am and 10pm.

Luckily i was away for most of january so didn't really notice, but i think it's ridiculously low speed that they're giving me. it's like double modem speeds.

what's worse is that now the limited month is over, I still have to use less than 50gig with my unlimited broadband, otherwise they'll limit the speed again. they only ignore night time usage if you're being limited to 128kbps. i'd rather have a cap for daytime use and have unlimited night time useage. are there any ISP's that offer this? and i mean completely unlimited night time use?

currently paying £17 a month for 8mbps. any help is appreciated.

Do you honestly expect to get unlimited DSL for £18 /month? Central capacity costs in the region of £250 /month per Mbit @ 95th %ile.

My advice, if you want to use a lot of 'off peak' traffic, then switch to an ENTA reseller utilising ENTA's reseller schemes (such as UKFSN) as these packages include huge amounts of off-peak transfer (~300GB) but don’t expect to be getting anything more than 2-4Mbit during these busy times!

Telewest (Virgin)
2mbit, unlimited (due to fair use, i know) But i spent 2 months downloading at 100% and they said nothing.
Oh. £18 per month too.

Anyway, just be lucky they are not charging you per gig after you have used 50.

LLU and Cable is where you need to be if you intend to be a heavy user as your ISP doesn’t have the outlay of central capacity which is the most expensive part of the bill!
