hey guys, ive been lookin at amps lately and narrowed my choice down to 2 denons.

the first choice is the AVR 1906 and the second is the AVR 2105. the 2105 is cheaper at the moment.

I was lookin for somethin with at least 2 optical inputs on it and also somethin that suported 7.1 for future upgradability. I was originally gonna get hte Yamaha DSPAX757SE but they're gone everywhere now :(. had a listen to the denon AVR1906 and i liked the sound of it with the missions i've bought. but i figure the AVR 2105 should be similar to it even though i think its older???

what ya guys think

unfortunitly i dont have MM access anymore, was banned for thread bumping (had no replys to a for sale thread, post was on page 6, didnt want to do a price drop, bumped to the first page, got banned, though sold my item thanks to the bump) i did ask a couple of the mods what i was supposed to do to sell my item after i got banned, but as ya can imagine i got no reply...

anyway, i think i'll probs end up goin for the 2105, as its literally identical to the 1906, except its cheaper (superfi have it on offer at the min) and it has an extra 10w per channel i think

if i could find one of them 3803's in black for that price i'd snap it up straight away!

I've just found the catch in the AVR 2105. it seems it doesnt have any video conversion at all. the AVR 1906 converts s-video to composite and vice versa

now having said that, somethin like the 3803 that converts to component etc too is lookin more tempting

at forumhifi here in notts on mansfield road the 1906 is £229 i think it was (that or £219, cant remember off hand). that's the one im goin for now.

i havnt heard the 2105 but from what has been said the 1906 could be hte better one of the 2, less watts per channel but to be fair, watts on speakers doesnt mean a great deal lol and it also has video switching and conversion that the 2105 hasnt

i have heard the 1906 and i liked the sound of it, so i assume the 2 must sound pretty similar as they are a very similar spec

i didnt think it was "higher int he food chain" so to speak as its quite a bit older than the 1906??

the 1906 is newer than it, as theres also a 2106 out now??
