I've noticed some of denons AV Amps can convert pal interlaced to progressive scan also with option of outputting it to hdmi. Is this a real time process and is the quality of the output good?

Could I a xbox or gamecube to the amp and have it converted to pal 576p and sent straight to a plasma via hdmi as opposed to chipping the consoles to enable setting the region to us? Also maybe you don't need component cables then as you can connect the consoles to the amp using composite or s-video?

Here's a link to the specs :- http://www.denon.co.uk/site/popup/index.php?p=techdat&Pid=237

I have a Denon 1906 which has 3 componant inputs and one output which I personally prefer to hdmi but yes I dont see why you couldnt be able to do what you suggest with that amp

I think the Denon's are a really good bit of kit myself

I was wondering if the conversion is a real time process though. I know you can get expensive converters that can convert almost any signal to HD but they introduce a slight delay, so that makes them unusable with consoles. Thanks for the reply though.

See you suspended at the moment buddy but I want to get this amp so I will keep this bumped up.
I really want this amp but I can't find it under £700 so I won't be getting it. However I don't know the answer to your question. For that I think you should head over to avtalk.co.uk. There nice there and they answer your questions opposed to avforums which I find tiresome now.

Wel I have used my xbox360 thru my denon's componant input and if there is a delay it makes no difference to me - and I have used PGR and Ridge Racer this way without any problems

I know you were interested particularly in HDMI inputs but are they really worth £400 more ( if tob3z is correct and you cant get the amp inquestion for less than £700 and my lesser model cost around £300) anyway only you can decide but let us know how you get on once you are allowed to again

I can find the amp for £680 but I have to go far away to pick it up which isn't an option.

However I don't think he's after the 2807 just for the HDMI. I need the 2807 as it's what will drive my epos speakers the best... or at least it will be able to handle the speakers and not blow up like the 2105 I used to have.

Excellent! Ordered from there on Saturday. Should get it before the end of this week. Just putting banana plugs on the end of my new QED cables now. Damn it hard lol.

So now I just need to order me some more interconnects like a HDMI cable and try to find a new cabinet so my centre speaker has something to sit on.
