I just setup a Denon AVR-X3200W.

I have an older Sony BDP-S370Blu-ray player.

I know the blu-ray player is getting on a bit, but I can't for the life of me get any Audio from the Receiver when I've tried blu-ray discs.

I've fiddled around with the menus on both devices and it just won't work.

Any thoughts?

It previously worked fine on my Sony STR-DN1040 using the exact same HDMI cable.

I also tried the same blu-ray (Star Trek - 2009) in my Playstation 4 this morning to see what happened with that.

Audio output is set to linear PCM in the PS4 audio settings menu.

The audio actually worked, but when I press the Green 'movie' button on the remote to select the audio stream there wasn't an option for 'Dolby True HD 5.1'

Am I missing something obvious - Do Denon not list the sound output options them by the actual name? I can't actually remember what options came up but it was something like 'Dolby Digital + Dolby Surround'

I'm not an expert on these things but I recently felt like a bit of a plonker worrying about my record player or pre-amp being broken when I couldn't get any sound out of my Denon AVR-X2200W.

I ran the set-up wizard on the amp and it sorted the inputs for me and voila... I could listen to my records.

Alternatively check your inputs manually.

I understand that this is probably obvious and you'll have already looked at your inputs, but hey, that's what I've got for ya :) Can't hurt to try.

Also, with my PC set up for 5.1 running through the amp it displays as something like "Multi surround & <Dolby Digital Symbol>"

If the Denon & Sony are set to auto it should work. I'd take the Denon back to where you bought it & get them to test it.
