Hi,

looking to upgrade my TV sound system (currently a PC 2.1 system plugged into headphone socket).

The Denon RCD-N9 seems to fit the bill (2 optical in for TV and one direct from PS4) It will be used a lot for music. CDs, Spotify Connect etc. I'm also looking to get some Q Acoustic 3020s and a sub at a later date. Reviews all seem to focus on music/streaming etc without touching on how good it is when running from the TVs optical out. Does anyone have experience with a similar set up?

Cheers!

Id imagine it been just as good for TV seen few reviews on richer sounds having simlar set ups and all getting decent reviews. Its the best way to have TV sound even for movies. We was going to get something simlar but our living room just ain't big enough for it and all the wires so we opted for the Canton DM-55 and impressed with it for music and films

It will do fine from the TV optical out. It's a digital connection, so won't differ compared to optical from PS4 or anything else.

Looks like a good small system and should sound great with any decent speakers I'd imagine.

Cheers guys, I assume most TVs can output a stereo signal and the amp won't need a decoder?

*edit and the PS4 for that matter? Think I've seen a PCM option in there somewhere!

Yeah, all TVs will output stereo PCM via optical. Some can output Dolby Digital 5.1 as well, but that's more than likely just more expensive TVs I'd imagine.

PS4 I assume can output Dolby Digital or stereo PCM, just the PS3 did.

I have the n9 hooked up to the optical output of my LG oled and some 2020i's. Sounds fantastic to me.

Also use it to stream music from my PC upstairs. It's a great bit of kit for the money.

Got this setup now and it's brilliant, only thing that niggles me is the terrible output volume from Sky? Every other source, loud and clear, Sky - volume up to 40!
