My dads positive he dented his cat converter the other day going over a speed bump and has mentioned a change is power. Would a badly dented cat(yet to have a look at it myself) make the engine suffer a bit?

He had the cat replaced before and they didn't fit whatever guard it had before back on and this has happened. Don't fancy him paying £175 when i can get the cat on ebay for £60 and fit it myself.

Could well do as the ceramic/platinum honeycome could become broken or collapse, restricting gas flow.

When the ex's megane's cat let go it was worse than normal (loss of power), then a few days after I drove it and a few miles in after a loud crunching noise (sounded like breaking crockery) it cleared itself and was fine after that. We ended up putting a full new system on but not for a while.

Sound abour right then. The cat went the first time just by itself.....he said it was down on power. This time it's due to a speed bump + full car.

Trying to start the car whent he immobiliser still on is bad for the cat i think? If it lets petrol into the exhaust.
