Dentists

At that point you might as well become a bum because you're working for FA :P
My Wife said similar - although judging by the average age of the dental nurses he rotates through (via the Uni), we might have an inkling as to why he keeps at it...

...and so do the ex wives.

He told me that he only brushed once per day and that's all you need if you brush and floss properly and avoid sucking on sweets and those sugary/acidic drinks.

His tip for orange juice is that if you have to to drink it, knock it back. Don't swish it around or hold it in your mouth to savour the flavour. Made it sound quite a dangerous substance!

Only once per day that's interesting. Its true that the bacteria are always ready to go, as soon as there's some sugar for them they have a riot.
I used to have pretty sensitive teeth but I have reversed it by about 75% by doing a few things consistently.

I'm not stating it as an absolute medical fact, just repeating what my dentist said. I still lean towards cleaning my teeth twice per day.

I brush about 4 times per day. In fact before I go out I typically have a quick brush, along with chewing gum when I'm out after lunch and can't brush. The brushes not at morning/night are quick 20 second top ups. I wonder if I should stop. I hate going out with unbrushed teeth. What if some hot blond college girl wants to make out randomly on the street?

only ever been to one Dentist Surgery seeing the same Dentist, he's now in his 70s and still practicing, no complaints

however I do like this, the lyrics firmly stuck in my head!

Our family dentist is a lovely man. Really good at putting my ladies at ease. He's one of ~10 in the same large practice.

They do both NHS and private. Guessing they make a roaring trade from all the local addicts, or, perhaps not, when you look at the state of the teeth of the locals

I was last there in August. Check-up was FoC and the scale and polish was ~£16.

Really can't complain.

Jesus visited the hygienist today for a poke 'n' scrape and a bit of scale and polish and got charged £55 plus £30 on top as a deposit against my next visit presumably incase I fail to show up

i have an nhs dentist but when i told them i had lost a filling a while back they said ring next year so not ideal i have my own filling mix but anyone use the fuji 9 mentioned here ?

It's a sad state of affairs when it's cheaper to fly to Thailand to get your nashers polished !!!!

I know someone who went to Hungary to get some major work done. Stayed for a week afterwards and it was about 1/4 the price all in.

UK is ripped off with everything.

On the flip side do you know how much it costs to actually live in Hungary compared to their wage? The UK is cheap.

I will never forget the time i had a filling, and the dentist got the big needle stuck in my face (mouth)

i was scarred for life
Takes me back to a filling last year where the anaesthetic also took out the nerve which controls my eyelid. Had to have my eye taped shut for four hours or so. :D.

Successive governments (Labour, New Labour as well as Tory) have done away with NHS dentistry to the point that most people are now priced out of dental care.

I'm old, single, legally deaf-blind, on 9p above minimum wage yet not on tax credits or UC (thus no NHS concessions), so I have resigned myself to the fact that I'm priced out like most other people. At least my house will be paid off in 6 years time so I'll have something to show for it when I kick the bucket. I'm not going to re-mortgage it because of dentist bills. The house is more useful on my will.
