Hi there,

Looking into getting a monitor arm and would prefer not to drill through the desk. What depth (horiziontal) is usually required for using the clamp method? Thanks

Each manufacturer specifies their own range. The ones I buy, the range can be adjusted because the main jaw is in two pieces bolted together, so they can go from zero to about five inches in three ranges. Most manufacturers don't go that high, it's common for them to go from about zero to just over 40mm.

Is that 40mm underneath the desk, as that's where the potential issue lies for me. Only have about 7cm of space underneath.

Ah I see. That would be a problem for mine. The bolts holding it all in place protrude about 100mm on the underside. Is there a wall you could connect it to instead? They are more stable connected to walls.

You can see mine in this picture

From the bottom of the work top to the bottom of the Black tightening knob is roughly 68mm with it tightened up
(But you would need a bit more depth then 68mm as you would need to unscrew it so it loose to fit it)
