Enjoyed the programme but slightly disappointed that it's a two parter.
Also agree that some of the in-house footage looked fake/false. The victim seems to be too typical of the character he's supposed to be playing. That being said I don't think it's fake, just poorly filmed in those shots.
FWIW Derren admits in his book 'Tricks of the Mind' that hypnosis isn't 'real' and that he isn't sure to what degree the hypnotic person is in control of their actions.

Came to this thread to see how many people would again cry "stooge" "fake" "actor" and then offer zero evidence to that effect.

lol where is the evidence hypnotism its real? people have been doing it since the 1800's in stage shows under various names before hypnotism was settled on.

Derren himself has openly admitted that everything he does is 'trickery'. There is no way someone can be 'hypnotised' by swiping across their face and anyone that believes that is a gullible retard.
By the way, the whole show was extremely awful.

Yes it is very tarted up, too much for my liking really. It is clear Pre recorded shots of zombies were interspersed with the hidden footage for example to give us a Steve's eye view of the situation.
I think people may be confusing the heavily stylised nature of the program with the idea the guy is just an actor and 100% in the know as to what is happening.
The same thing happened with hero at 30,000 feet and Derren wrote a huge blog post answering people's questions because so many people said that guy was an actor. Clearly he was not and had actually gone through a life changing experience.
As to the true nature of how these programs are put together we do not know, but I think it would be very risky for the credibility of both Derren and Channel4 to just fake the whole thing, I don't think there would be any satisfaction for anyone involved to do that and with such a huge cast and crew someone would whistle blow.

Okay put it this way, who ever thought it was real? its showbusiness/entertainment. it would hardl be a shcok if the headline read, darren brown performs magic trick. the key is the word trick, its a trick, an act, not a real life situation.
There is no expose' because no one thinks its real anyway.

It seems fake because the entire environment is so controlled, if it wasn't it wouldn't work.
Its the same in his stage shows (very good by the way), if you sit back and look at it objectively you can see some of what he is doing, but its very clever and entertaining nevertheless.

Derren is now offering people to ask him questions about the show via twitter because of the backlash. He will then do another blog post as he did with Hero at 30,000 feet to answer the most popular questions...
