Yeh this is a good idea, but would not work if she actually looked at the slip (did she?) when he gave it to her after he placed the bet.
she clearly didn't - or she'd have known it wasn't for Moon over miami
I reckon so, don't think she would have looked at it from the shock of knowing that she has just bet £4k on a tip that was most likely useless and Derren saying that had to hurry as the race was starting.
He didn't explain how the trick with the polaroid photographs worked.
maybe he got 7 thousand bookies/journalists.

Awesome TV, derren brown for the win, he should be PM, just think of the tricks he could pull, before long the UK would legally own the planet, and not a damn thing anyone could do about it
It is entertaining, and quite interesting. But he is just an illusionist, that pretends to be psychic etc.
It's all a trick!

Yes, but there's a chance she might have, which would stop the whole end part of the trick working if he were to try swapping the slips.
Although he probably used his mind powers to stop her looking at it
I'd say it is to not bet at all because the chances of a good run are too high!
Thing is, why would she look at it? He's told her what he's bet on, why would he lie/change it after all the stuff they've done?
Remember people are hand picked for these things as they want a certain type a person on the show
im sure they didnt hand pick the 7000 odd people they needed to start the show with.
They are showing it now on Channel4+1. I'm watching this right now.

It's part of standard "magic" tricks - the "magician" often manipulates people into picking a certain card, etc. He's developed it further, dropping the accompanying sleight of hand stuff (although he's very good at that too and still does it for fun). Add in some cold reading techniques and there you go.
