Saw this on 1up

f you could play just one game for the rest of your life, what would it be? Would you hope to milk more hours of joy out of an all-time favorite? Or would you be more pragmatic, cunningly selecting an epic game for longevity and replay value? When the chips are down, what's the one game that would bring you the most entertainment over the longest period of time?

We turned to some of the best-known personalities in the videogame industry to answer these very questions -- and asked everyone at the 1UP Network to weigh in as well. Here's the scenario: You're about to be stranded on a deserted island. You can bring just one game with you, on any system. But here's the catch: While the island has electricity, it doesn't have Internet access -- so the easy, open-ended choices like MMORPGs are right out. And we added another wrinkle for our developer friends: They weren't allowed to pick their own games.

We asked each respondent to pick just one desert island disc, but we knew it would be a tough decision. So we allowed each person to name one more desert island discard, a game that almost made the cut...but not quite.

Think you know what games your favorite industry personalities might choose? Find out inside.

Got me wondering what game i would take. Think it maybe GTA San andreas maybe GT4 (i could actually do one of them 24 hr races) im not sure!!

OMG - I actually found myself agreeing with Phil Harrison about something! He chose the exact 2 games I was thinking of!!!

Peter Moore's "discarded" answer didn't surprise one bit - well, I would've thought he'd take that not discard it. Does he have to treat everything as a marketing opportunity for a Microsoft game?

I always remember Peter Molneaux being asked this in PC Gamer years back, his answer was FFVII.

Seems he's going with Zelda now.

Ditto, and I had a second choice I'd go with a Civ game - probably 2.

Pro evo is infinitely varied, very configurable and would allow me to play master league for 100 seasons :)

Damn this is a hard one! I woul dfind it hard to chose one from the follwoing shortlist:-

Populous: The Begining (one of my all time favs - have played it through sooo many times!)
Champ Man (nuff said)
Pro-Evo (never gets old)
GTA: SA (I actually prefer VC, but there's way more stuff to do in SA so it would keep me going longer)

Sorry to make a list but I really couldnt chose between em. If the journey to the island was about to begin i would have to get a random stranger to pic one out for me!!!

I think my chosen platform would be PC. Then, as long as it has even notepad on it, I could use some time writing or something too.

Also shows that he can't read simple instructions :D

FFVII for me, though if I could pick another and have a net connection, it would be WoW, played it a little bit, but with all that time, I'd be able to grind all day... ohmy.

Yeah good point, I only quit WoW due to lack of time. But the 3 months I did play it I loved it so much, playing with clan mates on TS into the early hours of the morning.

Was always cool as well when you just walk past a friend in game somewhere and you didn't realise they were there, and it's just like "Oh, hello, didn't know you were here" :)

Im stuck on my favourite games of all time (Legend of Zelda LTTP, Resident Evil 2 & FFVII). :(

Will edit in my final answer. :p
