Picture this..... Your ship is going down and your PC is only able to save 1 game  The desert island you get to has a decent internet but will not allow you to download other games. What game out of history do you save?

My one game would be Elite Dangerous. Not because it is the best but because of the longevity it will give me.

If I'm allowed to take the modding tools with me then Quake 2 - could spend a lifetime modding that game hah.

Its actually quite a tough one my first thought was the original Deus Ex as I could spend a lot of time playing it even having completed it over 7 times but there is only so far it would go. Shame City of Heros is no longer as that would probably be my choice.

Good question. The most time I've ever put into a game was Champ Manager. Not sure I fancy it any more though - haven't picket one up since 2008.

Of games in recent years, FTL: Faster Than Light has easily the most hours, though is still only ~60 hours. I reckon I would enjoy another 100 hours on that.

Maybe one of the old Baldurs Gate games: they apparently have over 100 hours in them, which means I've never previously fancied playing as I can't see me putting the time in. Desert Island might be the perfect opportunity. But I'm not 100% sure I would enjoy it...

Dark Souls; played ~20 hours so far in the first one, suspect there's about 5 times as much remaining. And NG+. And I know I like that.

And GTA. not played one since VC, but the latest looks good and looks like a lot of playtime.....

Hmmmm..... I'll go with Dark Souls. Got to be a few hundred hours available there, if I don't level grind too much.

GTA V probably :)

Edit: Although whilst that has massive amounts of offline longevity there may be better out there with online longevity actually thinking about it :)

WoW not played in years and would have enough content to catch up with before starting to raid again.

If I've got an internet connection, had high player numbers and the game was modernised, it would have to be Delta Force: Joint Operations. 75 vs 75 on huge maps but with choke points to contest. It would take about 10 minutes before you even saw another enemy on some maps. It was a game way ahead of its time and I wish that Novalogic would make a new one (anyone actually know what happened to them?!).

CS:Source comes a close second. Again, only if I can bring with me the community that used to play on the old 40 player GBUK and Teeside servers.

Did you ever play on the SBG server ? That was epic !

I would probably choose civ6 just because of the amount of hours you could lose into it on single player and online and I've not had much time to play it with work and other games ...

Worms 2. The replay value is phenomenal as long as you enjoy the core gameplay, which I do. Worms 2 over armageddon as you can customise everything, from weapon characteristics to environmental factors to map design.

Diablo 3 simply for the endgame.

EDIT : I think an important part missed off in the OP is does our internet connection allow us to play with other people / voice comms ?

Maybe Eve online purely for the fact that its like a job in itself and demands so much time (reason for why I stopped playing) or Fallout 4, with mods of course.
