Design a Track!

Right firstly I know this thread is either going to be awesome or a total failure so I've kind of held off posting it for a while. Also posting it last week pre Canada would have seemed silly :p

OK that out of the way here's my thinking:

  • Valencia is crap
  • No one likes the majority of Tilke-dromes
  • Surely we can do better?

So there you go - for a bit of fun how about we design tracks for F1 that are better than some of the rubbish we have now? :D I keep doodling tracks at work but then lose them before I get home....

You can be as fancy or simple as you like - use paint and just draw a line, use something a bit more clever and make a 3d mock up if you want!

Also you can design it around an existing city/location or make it from the ground up - your choice!

My Poor attempt at a design :p. Definitely open for improvements. the DRS zone I dont think works at all on my track, but I tried to fit it in as best as I could. Too many corners and chicanes possibly??

Will come up with better designs once ive slept lol. So forgive me I aint slept in 48 hours :(
 
So here is my crap sketch, despite his crap circuits I've stolen Istanbul's turn 8 from Hermann, and included a mulsanne 'kink' and porsche curves.

A drawing is all well and good, but it does not show what makes a track good. IMHO, elevation changes is what makes a good track, and this can't be shown in this type of drawing.

I bet that if you took a track like Abu Dhabi or Hungary and gave it the elevation changes of Spa, it would probably improve it considerably.

My drawing skills are terrible, but I will see if I can come up with something.
 
unfortunately spa is already a real track but...

but if i was going to have a track thats not real it would have to be..my favorite race track from a game ever.

Grand Valley from Gran Turismo. Dont no if it features in the series any more but i mastered it in Gran Turismo 2.

It has been in every GT that I have ever played, including GT5 :).

I agree that it is an epic track design though.

So draw it in '3D' in paint :D Mega skills if you can :D
