Design feedback please

Just having a play at a new design for a friend and here's what I've got so far in photoshop.

Any feedback is welcome as to if i'm on the right track here

I'm not too keen on the red/salmon colours used for the background or the use of a gradient on the left navigation. The design seems good, but if it were mine I'd really want to change those colours. That's just my personal preference though.

I think its a very nice design. I agree with the background colour, maybe slightly darker. Apart from that its nice

I've got a few pointers for you to consider:

The header type needs a bit of work; maybe I'm just no keen on the font.
Any strong colour to white gradients don't look nice in my world, use an off white or pink.
Alignment; a few things seem a bit out of touch, the curves on the right could use a tad bit of work
