Design guru advice required

Ok design gurus, can anyone recommend a font colour that would work well with a purple background (#520659)?

I've tried white, and some light shades of grey but there is too much contrast, and the darker colours i've tried aren't easily visible.

An idea for an accent colour would be great too.

I don't really have an eye for these things.
