Hi all,

Currently decorating my small bedroom/home office and in the below corner I want to make a set of shelves primarily for books, folders etc.

The wall on the left is brick but the wall on the right is stud and I can't detect any solid timber in the middle of it unfortunately, so Im a little concerned on how I fix strongly to that part of the wall.

The dimension of the left side is circa 600mm and the right side to the door frame is circa 850mm.

I can see initially a few options:

1. Try and find something pre-made that would fit in the corner, free standing (i.e the Ikea Billy bookcase).
2. Self make a cabinet (free standing) out of pine or MDF.
3. Rather than a cabinet, simply install a number of shelves affixed directly to the walls at 90 degrees to each other.

Anyone have any thoughts please?

Thanks
Dan

option 3
You could use heavy heavy duty brackets which are long enough to give support to a shelf running along the wall toward the door, with the bracket itself attached to the masonry wall.
For info I got these for our office although I have bought additional brackets as the ones it came with were tiny.
