So.. moving into the new pad in a few weeks. It hardly needs any work apart from a little lick of paint here and there... one thing that is bothering me though is the tv setup, the stand/cabinet/surrounding speakers/area etc.

So here is what I've got to play with, this is where it's all going;

It needs to house the following;
TV (Currently a 32" Samsung LED)
Blu Ray Player
PS3
Sky HD Box
Home Cinema Amp (not yet purchased)
HTPC / Steam Box (not yet bought/built)
Speakers (not yet purchased)

What I'm mainly struggling with is what to get in the ways of tv stands/cabinets etc to house it all in. Space isn't really limited but it's not infinite.
Living Room size is 4.5m x 3m so viewing distance is about 2m-2.5m.
Budget for just the stand/cabinet/thingy would be around £100.

Pic of living room as it is with the current owners:

Let's have a party!

Not very good at designing these sort of things personally but have you taken a look through the post your setup thread on the hifi etc sub-forum to see if you can get any ideas from there?

Rip all your blurays to disk and put the lot under the stairs, then you can space your speakers out properly instead of what will fit on a 5' table.
Get an IR thingy to control them all.

Then you can mount the TV slightly higher, ideally above the finger height of rug-rats.

I've always fancied having a recess in the wall for a TV and then tiling the back of it with slate. I hate seeing these things jutting out from the wall on huge brackets that look more like scaffolding. 1/2 inch TV, 5 inches of metalwork :/

:confused:

Picture bears no relationship to drawing, is it the same house?

Had a good look through the various setup / desk / room threads for inspiration.

The picture with the sofa's in are opposite to where the tv will be :)

Something like this should house everything you listed and look fairly neat on that wall.
I calculate that the width of each of those shelves is under 36cm?* That's too small for Sky HD and most cinema amps (apart from the two larger shelves).
Probably intended for glass pots full of pebbles or whatever wimmins like to think of as decoration :/

*wow, that's really anal of me :o
