Hi all

I have a desktop PC at home which I built in 2007 for gaming, its becoming slightly dated and I am looking to start working on web design....

I know that the obvious programs like photoshop are going to need a good spec computer and I have decided to go with a laptop due to the fact I can carry it around with me and do my work on the go. (I am still amateur when it comes to web-design).

Could anyone recommend a good laptop for me? I would ideally not like to go over the top with cost but will consider all recommendations.

Thanks

What's over the top? How much will you be carrying it round and what sort of web design?

If you will be travelling a lot and just doing basic HTML and CSS then a decent resolution 13" laptop would do you fine. Something like the Asus UX31.

If you want something more powerful then maybe the Dell XPS 14z with a high resolution screen?

Well yeah would be mostly just basic stuff like HTML and CSS...some javascript.

Its more the programs such as Photoshop etc that im concerned about.

I am temped to just say sod it and get a gaming laptop :D

Probably looking at £400 maximum.

Plenty of Sandybridge i3/i5's with 4GB RAM and a dedicated graphics card in the market. Just a case of looking. It will only cost another what, £30-£40 to buy a 8GB pack of RAM (compatible with your laptop of course) for extra umph, :).

I was expecting to buy something for at least £500 so sounds good!

I am going to want something thats going to last me a good amount of time so its worth me spending :)
