Designing my website..

Hi, atm we have a guy who does our website.. but tbh it looks crap.

So as im pretty handy with photoshop i thought i'd design the new look for each page.

It will consist of an enter site page, main page, with 5 links, each leadng to a gallery.

Now ive created all the Web galleries using Photoshop CS2. Got the destination files all saved. So can I email this guy with these files and he can put them straight up?

The other thing is, Ive designed the Enter page on photoshop, but obviously, its only an image with no working links -

* Can I send him the .psd file or .jpeg and then he can make the "Enter Site" into an active link?

Not really sure if im just wasting my time as I havent got clue how html works. In my n00bness Im just presuming, if he has an image of the site design, he can jut put that straight onto the site and create links ontop of the image?

Ah ha ha.

Well, depends how skillfull he is. He might not have much of a clue and just upload the images with an image map.

I'd convert it to CSS and XHTML, and crop images out from your design into it.

Yes, as above, it's certainly feasible to do that. Having said that, however, of the many things that feature in lists of 'worst crimes of web-design', an "Enter Site" page that is an image map with a single link on it is probably #1

You could:

a) use an image map

b) splice the image in photoshop and create the layout

IMO these are a waste of time and space, but I guess it depends what your website is about.

Ask the person who is going to do it, they know what they can and can't do.

Like SherberT* says, they may just stick the image up there with an image map, which would be bad. Or, they may cut up the image and use an accessible method of navigation.

depending how hard this job is going to be i can help you with this for free.
the site im doing atm now needs the person to look at it and tell me further instructions so until around the weekend im kind of free to help you with anything you need. you say you have designed all the pages in photoshop, would i be able to have a look so i can see how much work this would require?
