Desire z or bb torch ?

Desire, hands down.

Google's WebKit browser is just exceptional, so good in fact not even some of the popular third party browsers stop me from using WebKit that comes with the phone.

Opera Mini/Mobile, Firefox etc all have quirky web page layout rendering bugs or don't fully support Flash.

Firefox and Opera have some nice options, such as bookmark and tab syncing with your desktop browser which are features WebKit does not have out of the box, but can be added with other applications or syncing with HTC Sync.

Also, smaller screen and resolution would actually put the BB Torch in the same handset league as the Legend - which is a lower specification handset versus the Desire Z.

Also, Android is simply a stunning operating system to have on a phone. Google are making more and more parts of the OS upgradeable via the Market which means you're always getting the latest features as they're released.

No waiting for a whole OS version to be made, tested and then released. Examples of this is with Google Maps, latest addition being recommendations on where you may wish to go, based on ratings you've given to places you've already been.

This is in comparison to say Apple, who release a phone and iOS that doesn't do copy/paste, MMS or message forwarding - then add those simple features about a year+ later with an update :D

IDK on the BB torch browser front, never used one, but every video I see online it seems pretty slow definitely not faster than IOS browser, is there a video that shows this?

On another random note I just ran a little test of my own Desire HD vs Galaxy Portal the difference between a low end Android device and a high end one is astonishing, not only that but the larger high res display also makes the difference all that bigger.
 
I think the point Spawn was trying to make is, in the past Blackberry web browsers have been next to useless, and the Torch one actually works quite well.

That doesn't however, make it better than Safari on iPhone or the Android browser. I think Spawn may have gone a little over the top there!

Also, I dont quite understand why you hate Android so much Spawn. Aside from a handful of apps (if any, depending on what you use it for), software-wise there is nothing the iPhone does better than Android 2.2, especially with the new HTC Sense.

As has been pointed out in the past, most people use, at most, 30 apps on a phone (rough average). I would bet that nearly all the apps people use on the iPhone have an equal or better equivalent on Android, the only thing Android fails at is games.

That said, Gameloft (makers of the 'coolest' games) have announced pretty much all the popular titles for Android, some of which are available already. Once this picks up a bit more the Google Market will start to draw level with the iOS app store.

Lastly, Angry Birds (the only mobile game most people play :p) got the 'Seasons' update on Android before the iPhone, which is quite astonishing in itself.

In my opinion having all 3 phones, at the moment i have the torch and iphone4 only but i find the BB browser better...im sorry if it grates on you and redmelo but thats my personal experience and what i think, whether im right or wrong is not the point i mean we can sit here and argue till the cows come home but personally i find the BB browser better than the iphone4 and Android browsers...simple. The stupid and hilarious thing is that poor Redmelo took my opinion as gospel when its far from being that at all...im just giving my opinion hence why im on here posting otherwise whats the point of recommending phones to the OP if i cant state my opinion eh??.

I dont hate Android, dont think ive ever said i hate Android:confused:...im just not a fan of them even though ive had the Desire and before that the Magic...i just wasnt that impressed with them tbh...i dont know why as the specs on the Desire are excellent compared to the Torch i have but sadly i found them not to my tastes so sold them and ended up going back to my Blackberry....and im not the only one who has said that, i know a few people who have made the switch over to Android from Blackberry and within weeks they are back to Blackberry and vice versa for the iphone4 as well and also people who have jumped from BBs to android and stayed with Android...each to their own and whatever works for them is my opinion....yes im a blackberry fan and i make no secret of it but for me they are without a doubt the best phones ive used in a long time and ive had plenty of smartphones before making the jump to BB. Obviously i realise that they are not for everyone...thats why if someone asks should i get one...im always the first to say, go and try one out and see how you get on with it...unlike some people who just say get an android or the iphone etc.

Sometimes i just dont get you Android lot....people say Apple fanboi's are the worst but dear god the Android fanboi's are just as if not worse.

Anyhow ive made my points so not gonna bother arguing this over and over.

If most of her mates have blackberries then without a doubt that would be best for her...id recommend the 8520 Curve which is a good little entry BB and shouldnt cost you the earth or your parents.

Past models were very business orientated but in the past yr BB's are becoming a lot more consumer friendly but still keeping the business aspect of the phone...the newest OS, OS6 is definitely a much more polished OS than say OS5 or OS4.5....plus its much more user friendly than previous OS's.

With the new tablet coming out, the BB Playbook which uses a completely new OS called QNX...theres every chance that BB will ditch the java based OS's they use now for the new fangled QNX OS which im hoping will bring it on par with the other OS's out there.

Android fanboys are nothing like Apple fanboys because most of them can actually provide some good solid reasoning as to why their choice of phone is better.

The iPhone fanboys argument is often that the iPhone is better because its an iPhone, or if they are a bit more intelligent, they start harping on about apps and that its more polished.

You said you wouldn't touch Android again 'with a bargepole', and a lot of your issues are hardware related too. You are of course entitled to your opinion but when it is in a vast minority people are naturally going to ask you for reasons and so on?

I personally just buy whatever suits me best at the time, I dont really benefit from a lot of the Android perks but I do like them. The way that Google are moving with Android is far more positive than any of the other Mobile OS developers and that is why I'll support them more than the others.

You should be able to use your phone how you want to use it, and get all the neat extra features thrown in, not pay for them/listen to Apples excuses for not putting them there, when there are no good reasons.

Exactly how i feel myself...i bought...sorry my fiancee bought me the Torch because she knows how much i like them but its not only that...its the fact that it just works for me. Funnily enough shes just ditched her Desire the other week and i bought her the 9780 and she loves it just as much as i do as she finds it easier to work with ie typing out emails etc...plus she has long nails so using the touchscreen was at best a hassle for her.

And i do use my phone the way i want to...in fact both my iphone4 and BB torch fit my needs perfectly...yeh im no fan of Android, they just dont appeal to me plus having 2 of them in the past...to be quite honest they just didnt wow me...well the first couple of weeks they did but once the novelty wore off i ditched both of them. But who knows i might come back to Android at some point but at the moment im quite happy with the 2 devices i have now. Perhaps ill wait and see what new specs the new future BB's have before deciding or i just might ditch the iphone4 and go back to Android because im not gonna lie...some of the customisation that ive seen in the mobile desktop thread we have are simply out of this world.

Different strokes for different folks i guess:).
 
What I don't understand with Apple is how they made a huge deal about adding copy and paste to iOS, they even had entire adverts dedicated to it, yet other phones had copy and paste for ages before. They do it with pretty much any feature they lacked and then add, make a huge deal about it like they are the first with it. :confused:
 
The BB Torch 9800, costs £400+ SIM free which is about the going rate of top end Android phones, but has way inferior hardware specifications and no where near the developer following that iOS or Android has.

Like majority of RIM's devices, the build quality is on par with some of the plastic tacky toys I've bought my 12 month old nieces for Christmas.

Don't worry though, it has BlackBerry Messenger.... :o

Because thats what they are good at....putting things in that should have been there at the start but wasnt then putting them in and making them sound like its the best thing since sliced bread...they are masters at advertising and it works...works very well.

They are very good at it, but only clueless people genuinely buy into it (which is the majority of their target audience to be fair).

Google themselves need to step up advertising, HTC have carried most of the Android advertising burden so far with Samsung not too far behind. They aren't even close to touching Apple yet.

I think Google are trying to sort the Android Market out before pushing advertising big time as that is one of the huge appeals of smartphones.
