Desk recommendation for gaming?

I'm know it's exactly "hardware", but having a good desk for PC gaming would make the gaming sections much more enjoyable...or more comfortable and less tiring at least (so I think).

Budget up to £150, but ideally would like to spend under £100. It should be decent size as well.

Considering OcUK don't sell desks, I think it should be ok for people to post links I think? :p

If there's already a topic regarding desk, please provide link to the thread as well, thx.

Ikea will provide you will alsorts of combinations to suit you.
Have a look on there, the Malm ones look very nice, however you can build a standard desk for less then £30 that will do everything nicely.

I got a swanky corner desk from John Lewis myself, but many places do decent ones and you can sometimes find great deals with local office clearance places... Even Amazon have a surprisingly wide range.

I happen to hate those slide-out keyboard trays as I have a massive keyboard and need much mousing room.
Consider too whether you'll ever want to set the keyboard aside and use it as a normal desk to write on, solder components up, paint model soldiers, do some cross-stitch or what-have-you...
Generally look for ones with inch-thick top boards, as they just feel more planted and stable. If going for a corner desk, remember how much leg room there often *isn't* under the things - Good top surface, but limited stretch-space.

Personally, I'd suggest looking at office furniture (proper office, not MFI home style) rather than cramped little computer desks - You sound like you have enough space for one anyway and clearance places can be very cheap.

Also, look to your chair more than the desk and make sure it has enough adjustment of all the bits so you can always be comfy, either slouching for lazy Farmville* play, upright and focussed on your strategy, huddled over during intense sniping or however you tend to play.

*I've never actually played Farmville, but I assume it's like The Sims or some other RTS-ey thing?

Ikea malm ftw! Bang on budget but its a cracking desk, theres actually a lot of us have the same one lol (look in desk/room setup forum)

Sorry, just want to add that besides keyboard and mouse, I use a Logitech G13 Gaming Board as well, so desk with those slide out thing for keyboard+mouse that are not wide enough to have extra room for the G13 as well won't work for me.

I had a Malm, the wife made me give it up because it took up half the living room.

It's in my Dad's loft, I'm determined to get it back at some point :D

ikea galant with adjustable legs
I bought one but not built it fully yet

legs are £25 each for the T legs or the A legs are cheaper
frame £20
160x80 desk top was £55

you can get the pullout tray for keyboard/mouse as an optional extra and cable tidy stuff if you really want it and a monitor stand

you can add the different shapes together as well like some guy did this

Yea I've been eyeing up the Galant many many times, but problem is the price would easily hit £200+ if I got all the parts together to do a custom build that I would prefer.

Anyway just been to Ikea today and saw this:
http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/50219044/

Seem to fit my preference nicely. If there's any downside it's probably the length is not wide enough for 3 monitors...but then again, I don't think I will ever be using 3 monitors...the most probable is probably getting a 27~30" 2560 res monitor or a 21:9 Ultra Wide Screen monitor at most...

Anyone got anymore suggestion?

Loving the fredde from ikea. I have a smaller pirana and tbh I hate it. Was cheap though.
Yea when I saw the Fredde at Ikea today, I couldn't stop thinking "oh my god the guy that designed this certainly knows what's he's doing!"

A picture from another forum showing that workstation in action:

Edit:
Bummer! Just saw this post saying that ATX case won't fit at the lower shelves by the legs:

fredde looks to cluttered when stuff is on it imo.

I prefer a nice simple look though that's easy to wipe down.

must be a pain dusting the fredde

I don't use the slide out tray.the top has plenty of room
