Hey guys,

I'e no clue where to look, and i don't wanna spend a fortune, i'm after a black metal base/legs, with a wood nice thick wood top desk, but preferably one i clamp a dual monitor stand on AND if possible some form of cable management system behind? Anybody help me out?

I'd prefer not to spend over £200 but open to options, as i am sat here all day working.. :|

Thanks in Advance,

Alex

I like it but i forgot to add it cant go higher than the desk level itself due to a window behind my monitors :)

Does it have to have metal legs? I know a lot of people including myself buy some sets of drawers and then a kitchen Work top from ikea. I believe the units most get are Alex units. That way it can be as wide as the worktop you buy

If you are actually looking for a nice thick wood desktop then be aware the Ikea ones are generally some kind of composite - the thicker ones are basically a box of thinner wood with some kind of filler and a wrap (vinyl?) over the top.

I'd go for the THYGE over the linnmon, the linnmon feels very small and restrictive, you will at best get 2 screens on with ur PC on the floor. (i used to own one)

The THYGE has far better rigidity and its legs are easily adjustible, great for cable management especially alongside the Ikea alex..

Oh and it doesn't use the dodgy cardboard inset like Rroff rightly mentioned the cheaper ikea ones do.

I use it for my setup (works great for rift sensors too :p:

For just over £100, its a steal.

I've just been through the process of putting one together myself and after all the research I did I went for the Ikea Alex drawers with the Gerton top.
It's come out at approx £165 although I still need to decide how I'm going to finish the top(oil/varnish etc).
I primarily went with the Gerton for the dimensions and the fact it was solid wood. I had looked at using a kitchen worktop instead but I needed 75cm depth due to the size of my monitor.

My dad got some metal framework and a worktop from Jewsons, cut the metal with an angle grinder, welded it together, painted it with hammerite, cut the worktop to fit with a disc saw and bolted it all together, £50 all in. That was in 1989 and still going strong :)
