Desktop and Taskbar icons disappear or reset every reboot. Windows 7. Error mapping network drive?
For some reason my taskbar shortcuts disappear every time I reboot my PC and desktop icons rearrange and/or reset to a particular size.
I googled it and can't find anything that fixes it. The only thing I can think of is to create a new user which should fix the problem, but I rather stick to my existing username.
When Wndows 7 is booted I can kill explorer.exe and open it and the taskbar icons reappear fine, but the desktop icons are still "messed up".
This windows is a fairly new installation, no viruses no **** like that
Any ideas will be much appreciated.
edit: apparently the source of the problem is my redirected Desktop folder to a network drive. I changed it back to its local path and all taskbar icons seem to work fine at the moment.
I think there is a problem the way network drives are "mapped" during logon process. Every time I start windows I get "error mapping network drive" only to see a red cross in my computer, but the drive is actually online and fully accessible, so why is windows bullying me with those mapping errors?
