Hi guys,

Bought a failed HDD laptop off ebay all good, but I then realised hang on I maybe don't need to buy a new HD for laptop? I've got a perfectly good desktop hd lying around, took out the laptop drive and noticed it has female connectors for Sata and power,

You can buy these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sata-15-7...uting_CablesConnectors_RL&hash=item485360dc2f

Male to female sata cables, will these work? I'm not interested in moving laptop i'll just have it sat next to it on the desk so It of course doesn't need to physically fit in. Just run.

Thoughts?

My only concern would be power requirements
How much does the laptop hdd use compared to a desktop hdd?
unless you power the desktop hdd with an external power supply

yeah this may be a problem,

I got the sata male to female cable plugged in my hard drive laptop keeps saying no hard drive detected...

I can feel hard drive running though, maybe my desktop hd been busted up too because it went through a house move in my drawer.

Will have to test it in my desktop however, bumpin this post for feedback.
