Hi! I feel as though I have a decent PC still to run some solid games, but it's just not performing like it used to, and I see other people with very similar/the same specs running games far better than I am. The specs include, i7 3770k @ 4.5ghz, sli 680's, 16gb ram, ssd, etc..

Pretty much what I'm asking is, are there any tips to optimize performance? Any ways to clean up the system? Let it run a little more freely?

GPU upgrade will probably be the best option in my opinion. (Keep seeing people complain about problems with sli)

Looking on the web, it seems like your GTX680's are equal to about a single GTX980.

Maybe consider getting a GTX1070/1080 or even a second hand 980ti.

A gtx 1070 would be a great they are about the £370 bracket but will give you a massive boost, failing that a single 980ti would be good just wont have the lifespan the 1070 would. You can sell the 680’s on eBay to recoup some money

Without changing hardware a clean Windows reinstall never hurts. How far off the pace does the system seem? Could be too much stuff running, a virus, something not working, etc. Trying to get an idea what's up should help work out how to fix it.

I'd echo thoughts on switching to a single GPU. The rest of the system is still plenty good enough for 1080/1440p gaming with a strong GPU.
