Desktop / Laptop Setup

Hope everyone is having a good weekend

I’m looking to get some advice on the best way to setup a Desktop/Laptop system that use the same monitor and peripherals with minimal amount of swapping cables between the two. I’ve had a look around on the internet and there seem to be several thing available but I’m not entirely sure which would work best for me.

What do you guys think is the best means to setup something like this?

Hardware KVM the best option - I usually use Aten. TBH though most of the cheaper ones have lagged behind video connection standards and displayport ones, etc. tend to be expensive.

Remote Desktop into them.
