Desktop recording software

Hi Guys

I was after a little help. I need some software that essentially records your desktop I guess. I want to create some basic video's such as how to set something up or install something but my google fu is bring back loads of ****ware.

For example when setting up a nas I want to make a video about the process or activating a feature etc?

Would prefer free but don't mind spending a couple of quid if necessary.

If you have a recently nVidia GPU shadowplay can do desktop capture.

Obs can do that, might need a bit of setting up depending on what you want to do with it but its free and works well https://obsproject.com/

Bandicam can also do it, its free but limited to 10minutes (unless you pay)

Alright mate. Just been on the Jing website and they do Camtasia and SnagIt. SnagIt seems like it may fit the bill? A bit cheaper too if I buy it at £32.

Also come across FastStone in my googling.

Any thoughts guys?

Mirillis Action is brilliant can record both desktop and game too, it does cost about £15 but well worth it. its a really good software.
