Hi,

As I have now purchased a two bedroom house, having a bedroom dedicated to a desktop PC is a bit of a overkill and its taking too much space.

I know bugger all about laptops, can someone tell me a laptop with a bright clear vibrant screen, good battery life, and large harddrive? also a good keypad on the laptop is a must!

I wouldnt be using the laptop for graphic intensive games, just web browsing, music (streaming to a media center extender)

I wouldnt like to spent no more than £800 , is that a resonable amount?

thanks for any help in advance

Hi there
A machine with a great screen and keyboard is the Dell studio XPS. I think their under the small business section on their website. you can get better deals if you phone them and haggle a bit.

To be quite honest £800 is overkill for what you describe as your usage

For £600:
Acer Aspire 5740 - 523G32MI / Core i5 520M 2.4GHz / 3GB / 320GB / DVD-SM / 15.6" / Windows 7 Home Premium / Laptop / Notebook (LX.PM902.047)

For £650:
Hewlett Packard (HP) Pavilion DV6 - 2105EA / Core i5 430M 2.26GHz / 3GB / 500GB / DVD-SM / 15.6" / Windows 7 Home Premium / Laptop / Notebook (VY131EA)

Also look at the Sony E Series its configurable so you can choose you setup prices start below £600 and you can max what parts you want to.

And not forgetting Kobalt they have a Multimedia laptop starting at £750 which is very capable

Good point. I would second the HP. My wife has got a HP hdx16 which is similar to the DV6 and its very nice. Great after sales too.
