Hi,

I'm looking to replace my current desktop pc with a laptop (my budget is around £1200) and was looking for some advice.

What are peoples preference and experience over 15 vs 17 inch laptops?

I like the style of the MSI GE & GS laptops but not looking for a high end gaming machine, but do enjoy the occasional game of 'World of Tanks' and as such been mainly looking a laptops with the Nvida GTX 850 or 860m.

From all the online YouTube reviews, I have the overall impression that the addition of ssd (regardless of size) makes a huge difference to boot time and programme loading. I know the battery life is not great with either of these laptops, but they are not much different to my 3hours on my current ASUS laptop.

Any view and opinions would be greatly welcomed.

Thanks.

There's an Asus laptop gibbo was advertising for £1199 on here with a 970m quad core and a 17inch screen. That would be my choice.

I have a gt70 with the same specs, it's great but it is quite heavy.

17" is much better for a desktop replacement (even then a stand goes a long way) but personally I ended up connected upto a monitor a lot of the time.

IMO for a desktop replacement battery life of any kind if a bonus rather than a concern :S

Ok thanks for the advise.

I'm now looking at the Asus ROG G751JT-T7019H or the MSI GT70 2QD Dominator-2458UK as both models are within my price rage.

At the moment I'm leaning towards the MSI GT70 as it has the ability to upgrade ssd as I believe the Asus can only support one M.2 ssd and either 1 HHD / 1 SSD. Does anybody have actual experience of either, I'd really like to hear your experience (good & bad) regarding either of these two machines?
