Desktop won't load?

My pc wouldnt start up on thursday, the psu had blown, so I replaced it, and while at it, upgraded the graphics card to 2x nvidia 8600 GTS in sli.

Everything worked fine, playing games etc until this lunchtime when starting my pc, the pc starts fine, the windows logo comes on, then when the screen goes blank, instead of the desktop appearing, the screen stays black.... Whats gone wrong? I've tried rebooting a few times, and safe mode works ok, but what can I try next?

SLi problem? Ram, motherboard faulty? arrghhhhh

Might wanna try a system restore, so need the operating system disk, boot from that and go into the system restore options and hopefully you have a system restore point that you can load up from that isn't too old. Or even the system repair options, assuming you're on Vista.

Its windows XP, can't find the cd either And pretty sure I've not got any recent system restore points from when everything worked anway
