I know its another "Spec me" thread, but im getting desperate now. I haven't played a decent game fully for ages now, and now that i have a lot of free time on my hands im looking for something that will do me a while.

Currently sitting in front of me i have Mass Effect and Oblivion. I have tried both (more so Mass Effect) but i just can't seem to get into them. I really really want to cause i think they both look really good, but i they just don't grab me. I guess im kinda looking for an RPG, but any game with a good amount a content that will tide me over awhile will do.

The problem im finding with Mass Effect and Oblivion is that i think there is just too much to do. But its hard cause i do want a game with a lot of content! The loading times in Oblivion annoy me cause it happens every time you go in any building. I know they are short, but it sorta kills the atmosphere for me. Mass Effect is somewhat better, but i just can't get into it. Perhaps its the story of both of the games, i want something simple but long, but not so long that ill get bored that getting from A to B takes 20 minutes.

Im annoyed with myself cause im missing out on these (apparently :p) awesome games. Give me some inspiration! :D

Yea i have tried Fallout 3 on the PC and it does seem a lot more suited to me than Oblivion. Does it fair well on the consoles? As in are the loadings as annoying as Oblivion?

Fable 2? It's a lot more light hearted than Oblivion and Mass Effect and offers a great deal of game. I've just finished the DLC too which is well worth picking after you've finished the main quest.

Yes the Xbox 360 has a good version not as good as a high spec PC of course but better than the PS3 version.

Yea i have been looking at Fable 2 and it does seem pretty decent. I want something somewhat linear, but not if that makes sense :p.

I should have probably mentioned the games that i have played: Burnout Paradise, COD3, COD4, Condemned 2, Crackdown, DMC4, Gears 1, Gears 2, GRAW1, GTA4, Halo 3, Mirrors Edge, Orange Box :), Prey, PES2008, PGR3, Tomb Raider Legend.

These are all the games i own and have played.

Fable 2 is pretty linear. There are plenty of side quests and things to do off the beaten path but the main quest is pretty straight forward.

Have you also considered Resident Evil 5? I took a dislike to the demo but tried the main game anyway and found it totally engrossing and my goty so far.

Works brilliantly on Xbox360, which is the better of the two versions. Plus Xbox also has the 3 episodes of Downloadable Content (Operation Anchorage, The Pitt and Broken Steel).

Another that might be worth looking into is Fable 2, it's actually very good, but not as RPG as it could be, but it does have a wicked sense of humour and it's easy playing.

over the next few weeks there is also Star Ocean and Sacred 2 coming out, which if you own an Xbox360, may be worth looking into (I have both coming for less than £40 - so I'm quite excited). For older games there is Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, Enchanted Arms and also the rather superb Lost Odyssey.

If you want to steer away from RPG's, Resident Evil 5 or Dead Space are also great shouts to go for. The latter can be picked up so cheap it's ridiculous not to.

The camera really bothers me in Res5 and the way you have to stand still to shoot. Never really took to Resident Evil too much in general which is a shame :(

It's great in co-op online, you do get used to it though (the standing still) and becomes a great game despite that. That isn't the case with Dead Space though, you can move and shoot in that, it looks phenomenal, great story and is just a truly brilliant game. Plus it's a new IP, so if there are any more you'd be starting from the beginning.

Yea Resident Evil 5 is pretty poor in anything other than co-op online. Single player Sheva is just annoying as the AI is ridiculous. Local co-op is a joke because gold and treasure isnt shared, if you are player 2 you cant upgrade your weapons you have discard them so that player 1 can do it. Online co-op is pretty good however as you get non of this.

Thanks for the help so far guys. Fable 2 seems like something i would be interested in and can be had for around £15 in places which seems decent.

I have never tried my hand at J-RPG's yet. The last time i played one was Final Fantasy 7 and that was a demo on the PC yonks ago! Turned base fighting is interesting, whether or not i'd like it is a different story, but definitely interesting.

My brother wants Res5 at some point, so ill probably be getting it soon and try it after he is done with it.

Suppose i could try Fable 2 and maybe it would inspire me to try something with more depth after i finish it. The only RPG's i have played are Diablo II and WoW (which i have recently started and then stopped!), so RPG's on consoles are new territory to me.

I bought dead space for a tenner a couple of months ago and it's one of my top 5 games of last year. Keep in mind imo last year was a really good year for games so that gives you an idea of how much i loved it.

I'd say Fable2 is probably the closest to what you're looking for.
Although I didn't like oblivion and I found fallout was really good, too.

If you haven't played it already you could try bioshock. One of the greatest games I have played, although it's RPG content is little to none.

Thanks for the help guys.

I've actually started to play Fallout 3 again on the PC and it is actually really good. Before i was just messing about and walking around, but since i started to actually do the quests its a lot better.

The same will probably happen for Oblivion, cause i just kinda messed about and didn't really read or listen to what i had to do.
