Hello all
About 10 mins ago my computer just turned off, there was a loud pop as it did so. The powerpoint is dead, everything connected to it won't turn on. My PSU is also dead, at least i hope it's just the PSU. I've taken the RAM out and tried it in another machine and it works. As for the other components, i don't have the hardware required to test them, CPU, GPU etc etc. Would this be just the PSU that's busted? Any help is much appreciated

I would imagine it was just the PSU.

Try swapping the PSU with another one, if everything boots well it was just the PSU.

If you get errors such as Missing hard disk etc it would have also knocked out your hard drive.

I can't. The only other PSUs i have aren't powerful enough to power it, cables aren't long enough and they don't have the right connections.

Nope, no surge protector. The PSU appears to be dead and there was a loud pop which could have been a capacitor. I have an abit wifi 32-max mobo and it has solid state capacitors, which means i don't think they explode (though i'm not sure).

well the psu is dead you need to buy a new one. Good chance it took out some other components when it blew only one way to find out.
