Desperate! laptop recommendations

Hi, I'm trying to find a gaming pc or laptop for my son on a poor budget. I've pretty much given up on a pc as out of price range however I'm interested in a laptop now. His current one has failed completely now and he's driving me mad. I'm looking on ebay and found couple in the budget (around £350) yes I know that not a lot. I guess I'm looking at a 4 yo one but worried about cpu gpu playing newer games, COD etc. Found a y520 i5 7th gen 1050ti and a ASUS ROG GL502vt. Any thought, suggestions or recommendations are appreciated. He's 14 and knows his gaming **** so gotta get the best I can. Thanks in advance

For a gaming laptop on that budget I imagine you’ll have to shop second hand. Gaming laptops start at about £700.

Yep, hence the y520 and ASUS ROG I was looking at on ebay, a lot goes over my head tbh with cpu gpu etc and what goes best with what, i5/7, Ryzen, AMD, GTX, RX and so. Just didn't know if anyone knew the best performance I could get on a 4 yo laptop for that kind of price. If anyone was on here who knew that market ya know.

You will get more for your money building or buying a 2nd hand desktop.
