Desperately need BSOD help!

Hi Guys,
My auntie basically asked me to remove Norton from her laptop as the trial ran out long ago and keeps popping up and being annoying. So I uninstalled it, with the view of enabling windows firewall afterwards (shes not very pc savy). The software uninstalled, and asked to restart to complete the process. Now whenever the laptop starts up it blue screens with the error:

Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

The laptop then only starts in safe mode. How is the removal of norton related to this?? I can't even put it back on because she's staying here fore the weekend and is going home tomorrow...

I hate it when people ask you to do something and stuff like this happens. The laptop is basically completely unusable now?!

It's probably in a right state, had no virus scans, firewall or anything, so I would be extremely grateful if someone could advise me how to solve this blue screen quickly!

Try taking out a stick of ram. Then try booting, if this doesn't work try taking out the other stick and put the one you took out first back in. This issue had happened to me aswell

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I couldn't take out the RAM sticks in the end. It turns out a lot of people have had the same problem with Norton, and it turns out that you often need to completely resinstall windows or just put up with the trial version!

Managed to find a system restore from a few days ago before the uninstall. :/
