Hi people, this week i have been roped into building a computer for a friends sister (its a birthday present which puts more pressure on ) called down to OcUk on friday and grabbed the parts, which included an Abit AX8 v2 motherboard and a Samsung 160gig sata hard drive. Now when trying to install windows, it doesn't seem to be recognising the hard drive and when it asks if i want to install 3rd party drivers etc (Press F6) it doesn't seem to be responding.
Anyone have any idea of the bios settings i should have? Any help would be massively appreciated as i am in a bad situation.

Thanks people.

Right, i am able to install drivers off the floppy that came with the mobo but what i cant understand is the complete lack of sata options in bios, is this normal or me just being stupid?

oh.... i still cant get it to install windows either, gets to F8 to agree and starts to install but when it reboots i get a message telling me i have a configuration problem possibly :(

most new m/b emulate sata with pata to make getting the os installed quicker

is it telling you that it cannot find any h/d by any chance, if it is you have installed the wrong divers.

have you tried without using the F6 driver route ?
