Desperately need to find a Socket A motherboard for the PC that i built as a Christmas pressie for my 5yo son. The blooming thing started playing up after a few hours use....Damn Epox caps! :( (See here if ya interested).

As MM is currently closed, i've had a scout about on the net & there isn't a lot of choice when it comes to Socket A mobo's in this day & age! :p Looked on The Bay, but prices are stupid as usual.

I've come across the ASRock K7NF2-RAID for less than £40 new delivered. It seems to have all the features i need, but it's a little odd as you have to use jumpers to set things that you're used to doing in the BIOS.

Any opinions on ASRock kit? Anyone recommend another Socket A board? Need to support Athlon XP's, AGP, PC3200 (preferably DC), SATA would be nice, as would onboard LAN & audio.

Feel free to contact me by email or on Messenger at: master_skooter at hotmail dot com.

Thanks in advance

Let me have a dig around in my loft, if its a basic socket A board you want I'll let you have one of my spares for free. Back in 10

might be worth a trip down to an electical componant store and find some good quality replacement caps and get out your soldering iron( if you have one).

No money - just enjoy. These forums have helped me out loads over the past year, nice to be able to give back now and again (my knowledge isnt up to it yet).

:D

ROFL - Nice. :D

Well, if anyone else is searching and comes accross this thread - I have the ASRock K7NF2-RAID as it was the ONLY nF2 board I could get! 0_o

It doesn't support mobile CPU's, so multiplier settings are done via jumpers.
(I recon a non-mobile CPU would be OK)
CPU FSB also jumpers.

Not played with it much... As the on-board options are crippled compared to the Asus A7N8X-E.
It 'does the job', but that's about it.

Getting 2nd hand mobos from lofts seems to be the way forward. :D

Funny you should ask, my wife wants me to upgrade our daughters aging Athlon 1.4/PC133 set-up for her birthday in February! ;) :D

I'm after a board, CPU & RAM.

Would you mind emailing me (in Trust) please. Don't want to turn the Motherboard forum in to MM :p

[EDIT: Added you to MSN

Cheers
