Well I took the plunge with a PS4 the other day and I'm glad I did, great piece of kit. Most of my time so far as gone into Destiny, and while I'm really enjoying it, I have a few questions where my Google-fu has failed me...

1) How are public fireteams done? I did my first Strike today, the Devil's Lair one, and was tagged with a couple of randoms as I ran into the Strike. No problem there, but I was surprised that whilst one was L10 like me, the other was L25. How come he was in with us? Also, he didn't seem to be one-shotting things, so are higher level characters "downscaled" if they do lower level missions?

2) I don't understand how to get moving with Factions (I'm familiar with the concept as I've played WoW). Do they get introduced later in the game or something? I've just got to Venus, I'm L10.

3) No trading possible with other players at all?

Thanks for any and all replies!

1. Normal strikes will try and match you up with people of similar level. Not sure how a level 25 ended up with you.

2. To level up your reputation with factions, you just have to wear a cloak, bond, whatever from that faction. Level the rep up enough and you can buy items from them. That's all there is to it.

3. Nope, no trading. Have fun with that when your friend gets his 5th vex mythoclast and you still don't have one.

1. Yea I'm not sure about the strike either - I didn't even try to get in a group, just went to the mission and followed the waypoints and realised I had a couple of guys with me.

2. Ah right, I'm wearing a Vanguard emblem atm, so I guess I'm already doing that.

3. Damn, I thought trading might have been coming soon since you can inspect players. Ah well.

Thanks for all the help! Definitely enjoying the game so far, a lot more than I expected to enjoy an FPS on a console to be honest! I guess the test will be to see how much of an End Game there is for me, otherwise I'm not sure I get the point of the MMO elements of it.

As extra notes:
High lvl players have a dmg cap against low lvl mobs, so they will be doing similar amount of dmg as you. This was done so a high lvl friend can play with a low lvl one without carrying him, BUT I personally don't like it, because it feels like your character is never getting any stronger. Strikes are 3 player missions with automatic matchmaking.
When you complete bounties or patrol missions, you get vanguard rep automatically, your "emblem" doesn't affect this, but later on you can buy an item which goes in the class specific decoration slot, which makes all reputation go to a seperate faction where you need PvP marks to purchase gear. Vanguard are the main PvE gear vendors.
The end-game is ultra grindy and repetitive, game has good mechanics but no story and not much content. You will be killing the same enemies in the same areas countless times to progress. Raids are good, but exploits are rife, so no way to tell if someone earned their gear legit or by cheesing content.

There is a huge Destiny thread already, try to keep all posts in there so we don't take over these forums :p http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18487891&page=317

Great, thanks. Ah, didn't realise that had changed into a general discussion topic. Cheers!

Really enjoying it so far but do get the feeling that other than the story progression there's not going to be anything else to keep me going once I've completed the story. That said, I love the feel of it and they could maybe address stuff in a proper expansion (not The Dark Below's couple of missions).

Crucible is good as is raiding, then there are weekly and nightfall missions as well as exotics and xur.

the only real issue is that they have made some stuff really hard to obtain like radiant shards or exotic shards which are needed to upgrade high level equipment
