For those who have bought games from the Humble Indie Bundle, you may be aware that the games can be attached to both your Steam and also Desura account, if you have 1 or both. According to this post Desura will soon be available on Linux :)

I have about 16 games from all 3 Humble Bundles and it's great news cos it makes installing native Linux games on Linux that much easier :D

Bit of a bump for anyone interested in games on Linux, only a few days left (at time of posting) for Humble Indie Bundle 3 which now includes all the games from the 2nd bundle, since the games are cross-platform that's a lot of Linux games in one go :)

Dropped them an email yesterday to get on the beta!

Let us know how it goes :)

I'm pretty happy Linux is finally getting its own digital distribution service for games (edit: other than free games that are available with various Linux disctibutions). I think having a game client / service for Linux is as important as getting the games themselves as it will be great to have a centralised database of games available on Linux and a conveneient way to access / purchase / download them without having to look around on the web for Linux specific installers of Windows games :)

Beta client seems to work fine so far, although I had to install libpng12 to get it working on my current distribution which is Open Suse. I have a load of games from the Humble Indie Bundles so I installed World of Goo and moments later, I have a fully working game client on my Linux desktop and a working game installed :)

I don't know what kind of magic the Desura guys use, but it bloody works. I buy a game, it downloads and installs, and I can just play. Play games I thought I'd only ever get to play on Windows. Desura is amazing.

Well gave it a try registered my games and none of them would launch.
Upgraded to Fedora16 and the latest Nvidia drivers, still no joy.

Not a good start!

Any errors when run from command line? I've had the odd problem where the client would crash during installation but seemed to work fine when I restarted it, currently on Mint 12.

It might be worth checking out the forums and reporting a possible bug if no one else has the same problem?
