i have a detached double garage that has a good sized 4x6 Metre loft. The previous owners had the foresight to build it in a normal insulated cavity construction and have a window opening ready to go and only filled with a single skin of bricks. My question is what would be the cheapest option for insulating between the rafters so I would not freeze to death in winter? I worked out that for 100mm PIR between them would come in at about £550 and that is before over boarding with a further 40mm backed plasterboard. Expensive little project and I need to keep cost low. Ideas appreciated!
I am boxing off the staircase to tidy it up a bit. Building regs should not really come in to it as I won't be living in it, just doing man stuff lol.
