Detecting drives: Done: No drives found

So.....my PC has decided to give me some grief. After working fine for a long time it now won't boot up. I'm getting the Asus splash screen, it then gives me the following message:

"JMicron Technology Corp. PCI Express to SATAII HOST Controller ROM v1.07.23 Copyright (C) 2005-2010. JMicron Technology Corp.

Detecting drives: Done: No drives found."

Then it drops to a black screen with a flashing cursor.

It's confusing because I don't think I'm actually using anything requiring a PCIE to SATAII. I have two SATAlll with an SSD working as a cache to the first. It seems they aren't even being seen.

What's even more confusing is I can't get into the BIOS. I've mashed the DEL button and any other possible combination. I've tried everything.

My MB is an Asus P8z68-v.

I've not changed or altered anything. The only thing in the last few days was a Windows update.

I was planning to replace the PC after Christmas, but don't really want to do it from a broken one.

Any ideas welcome!

Hi thanks for the replies.

I can't get into the BIOS at all to see anything. That's part of the problem.

I've left it on for a good 10-15 mins. I could try longer....

I'm opening up the rig this morning to work on it. But without being able to access the BIOS I guess I will need to reset the CMOS?

Okay, so it turned out that the SSD acting as cache to HDD1 was fried, and because RAID s as required for that set up once the SSD was dead the other drives couldn't be seen. What's more, it threw the BIOS into some form of loop that I couldn't break into. So..... removing the SSD gave access to the BIOS, which then allowed me to switch out of RAID, and hey presto, all working again.
