I have 2 pcs with win2K on them networked and have ICS enabled for my cable connection.Whenever I try to connect to the internet after periods of inactivity or when I have first booted I get the message 'detecting proxy settings' for upwards of 15 secs before it connects.Now whilst this isn't really a problem I was wondering if I can speed things up by getting rid of this stage? Thx in advance.

Open Internet Explorer, go to the Tools Menu, then Internet Options. Go to Connections, then LAN Settings. Untick the box to 'Automatically Detect Settings' and apply the changes.
