I've been given an AMD 6 core PC, for security it's had it's HDD removed.

I presume it's had Windows 10 on the machine previous. I want to install Windows 10 on the PC again, is there anyway of detected what version of Windows 10 would have been registered to it?

Unless there is a COA sticker on the case I do not believe there is any way

Just buy a HDD, and get a key from ebay easiest way

Alternatively just install 10 Home first and see if it activates. Usually if it's the wrong type of licence, the Activation section will tell you what sort of digital licence is linked to the PC.

Install Home then check activation. If not activated run troubleshooter. Windows will tell you if it finds there's a licence for 10 Pro and if so will download the necessary files to upgrade the installation.

Thank you so much for that information :D, will try above!
