can we have this thread to discuss the leaked build? eidos are even allowing people to talk about it on there forum aslong as people dont post links to it or screenshots etc

http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=117909

we could have the same rules as eidos

NO LINKS TO IT
NO SCREENSHOTS
NO MOVIES

whichever mod sees the thread please post saying if this will be allowed or not

Yes got to admit I'm encouraged by some of the comments in that thread, still can't decide between PC and console though. Need more indication as to how good the port is.

Leaked Gameplay footage

Edit - Pulled the video link after the OP posted the rules :)

I have the game preordered (augmented edition, no less). I saw some screens from the beta and they looked HORRIBLE.

So I decided to download it myself, to see if it is good and if I should keep preorder (because normal demo will probably not get released, as usual).

It is good. It is atmospheric, graphics is not as bad (max details, dx9) as in those screens. Sure, Witcher 2 looks miles and miles better, but this one looks decent too. Music is great (even heard DX1 remix song, send chills down my spine). Prologue is linear, but that is normal, serves as a tutorial.

Basically, I am keeping the preorder. The game looks like it could be good followup to DX.

But that does not mean I agree with all design decisions. I still do not really like takedowns, especially the fact that they take energy. That seems so weird.

Of course you can discuss any game not out yet - otherwise threads about MW3 wouldn't be allowed surely?
Either way I don't have a problem with it, so long as everyone adheres to the rules that you initially set out in the OP -

  • NO LINKS TO IT
  • NO SCREENSHOTS
  • NO MOVIES
:)

Hope they release a demo, as I'm not really inspired by what I've seen so far and as a diehard DX1 fan I'm gonna take some convincing, I don't want to be let down lol.

Right I played the first Deux Ex, was quite impressed and played to about half way point but lost interest can anyone tell me the ending...

I'm not going to try it myself but I'd be interested to hear what people say about the UI/control etc. Does it feel like a PC game or an adapted console game?

Edit: B&W just go and read the plot bits on wikipedia :p

I'll take the term "Leaked" with a pinch of salt with regards to anything to do with gaming currently. Its just another marketing buzz word, mentioned in the build up to Crysis 2 and recently MW3 and now this, although it seems they might have taken it one step further leaking a build

As said in a diff deus ex thread.

The image is about 3.89gb which is a lot lower than id have expected if its such a highly anticipated game. As most are like 6+ gb images.

Dx11 shaders seem to be missing in parts i have read from comments.

Its fully playable and completable as far as i have read.

Oh and shadows seem to be missing on some parts of things i read too.

Didnt dl it just going by what i saw on a torrent site and its comments. As i didnt really like the first game i duno if ill get this but the gfx are nice from screenies on steam and it looks open ended and a lived in world with lots of npcs to talk to (i presume) i might try a demo when its out. I just couldnt get on with the original as i sucked at it lol it was always near the building u go in and theres a security bot u had to pass i dont think i ever got past that bit. And the rpg bit i didnt really like at the time, i duno i might have changed to accept the rpg element i duno.

Build size doesn't really mean anything, we are just used to poorly opptimised games.

4gig is plenty for a well developed game, using .dds for most of its textures, custom image formats for some advanced stuff, a decent audio format like .ogg for audio, a decent compression system for level data which is usually highly compressable and so on.
