Deus Ex on a good pc

i think Monolith's f.e.a.r engine is perfectly suited to a deus ex remake, personally. Dark, moody dingy settings.... it screams deus ex.

Definitely - it's a view I've aired here once or twice before. If you could bolt the Deus Ex game mechanic, storyline, characterisation etc onto the FEAR graphics, physics and combat AI, you'd be on to a winner.

As for the problem, try setting it to only use one core if you have a dual core cpu. I'm suprised vsnyc doesn't solve the issue, unless you are using a very high refresh rate.

I played it on a P4-2.7 9800pro system without any such problems.

Aye, still my favourite PC game of all time - an absolute masterpiece. Deus Ex 2 makes puppies and kittens cry :(

Try checking out the old posts at the TTLG forums - they've got loads of info /re Deus Ex and also an updated graphics renderer that supposedly improves it's looks greatly (in my testing it seemed 'alright').

On the other hand, System Shock 2 for the win (better than Deus Ex imo) :p

well good and bad news now lol. I tried the new drivers show above and the opengldx8 solved my uber speedy problem and the game plays at normal rates. But now for ultimate weirdness the game randomly slows down, like bullet time, and its like running in treacle. Doesnt seam to be graphical lag or anything, but something more subtle. Also with this renderer when I go to load a saved game the game crashes :p

Gotta love how solving one problem brings forward so many others!
