Never played any of these, where should I start? I don't really want to play them all and prefer my games to be very high detail at 1440p. Should I just start with Mankind Divided?
Andi.

I would start with the first + maybe the Revision mod, & if that doesn't grab you then skip to Human Revolution (no.3). Personally, I enjoyed the second game in the series, but it isn't all that popular.

I can't comment on the most recent title as I haven't got it.

If you play the original either use some kind of mod or look up the inventory glitch for extra space and hacking/lockpicking unless you are a sucker for punishment. IMO detracts nothing from the game and saves some tedium.

I'd skip the original and start with Human revolution, but get some background before you do on the storyline etc.

As much as I loved the original game it's not aged well.

agree that it has not aged well but for me the original is in my top 5 of 35 years of gaming across all platforms. Brilliant.

2nd is crap imo. 3rd better (human revolution). Yet to play 4th but reviews look average

I'd really love a high res redux that also spent a bit of time fleshing out some of the background setup i.e. seeing a bit more of the plague ravaging the landscape, martial law, etc. i.e. a reimagining that kept the original storyline/locations central to the experience but expanded on it a bit.

I started on HR.

I can play older PC games as long as they're not *too* dated. I could probably replay KOTOR (just because it's awesome) again but Deus Ex I think I'd struggle with.

Silly attitude really considering I'm still happy to play C64 or Spectrum games :p

I played through the original Deus Ex last year and it quickly became one of my favourite games. It's still fantastic.

Some people saying to skip the first, no its not aged well graphically but the storyline is top notch and remember the last two Deus Ex's are leading up to the original so you might miss out on some references. Also the latest Deus Ex is around the time JC Denton is born so I would expect Adam to start hearing about JC and Paul and hopefully they can expand upon the original storyline.

I would play them all in order of release. Don't listen to people bang on about Invisible War, it is still a good game IMO, just not as good as the first one.

Story is a very important part of Deus Ex. If you cannot stand the graphics you will be losing out. If this is the case I say try HR and then MD.

Would be a bad idea to go straight to MD, as while it has the best graphics, in my opinion it has the worst story of the lot, not that it is bad or anything, just does not live up to the quality of the rest.

Let's be honest, Deus Ex is a cold hard classic but to play it now, even with visual mods is to go back to a very dated game.

Play Human Revolution (which didn't exactly have cutting edge visuals) and then play Mankind Divided.

Thus far the two latest games relate very little to the original game...
