Device cannot start Realtek Sound Drivers

I am trying to install the Realtek HD Audio (R215) driver for use wit my Supreme FX II onboard sound card (Asus Rampage Formula) but once I have installed them and rebooted I get an error message saying that 'device cannot start (error code 10)' and the onboard sound has disappeared from the sound section of the control panel. I am using Vista 64bit and as soon as i search for the updated drivers it re-installed MS driver and all works as it should. Any ideas for me please - it is driving me crazy!!

Just to be sure, you are getting the 64bit download?

Asus download section says it is a Soundmax-based solution? So I'd recommend you try the driver available there instead.

Thanks - have tried that one as well which did work. The reason that I want to try the realtek as read somewhere that it had better functionality for 5.1 output in games via spdif. Not sure I am chasing the impossible but you gotta try everything!!
