Going to Florida next year for my honeymoon, will be doing all the parks, Kennedy space centre, big cat rescue etc.

Planning to take my D90 for some things, and got my phone for quick snapshots but was looking at device to do video with, showing experinces etc now I am guessing the go to would be an action cam of some sort? If so is GoPro the best or should be looking at the DJI stuff?

Or is there another alternative, budget up to £500 really, but with black Friday coming up doing my research now.

Cheers

What mobile phone do you have? You can get surprisingly good footage from most modern phones and won't cost you any extra. If you get caught taking a GoPro on any of the rides you can expect a sharp escorted exit from the park so be conscious of that.

Have a P30 Pro, to be honest I had not thought about looking to see how if that could do what I wanted, but will have a look, also the Osmo Pocket might be something I will look at as well

The P30 Pro is one of the best video / camera phones on the market. Personally I wouldn't even bother with the D90 for photos, camera phones have got so good now.
I agree with this, except for night photos and anything where you need to zoom in on the subject. Also, the background blurring software on mobile phones isn't quite perfect yet, so you sometimes get images that don't look correct.

Anything with good video stabilisation will be good for Vlogging and if you intend of going near water get a waterproof case.

So had a look at the P30, only does 4K/30 and you are limited to 10 min clips only, it can do 1080p/60 and no limit. So with that in mind, as want the option of 4K60 need to look at other option, so far on my list is the Osmo Pocket and the Osmo Action and the GoPro Hero 7 black, only reason not looking at the 8 is its a new form factor so new accessories are needed for it, plus I do not like the integrated mount, and non interchangeable lenses.

I have watched loads of reviews on YouTube and you get some prefer the GoPro, other prefer the Action, and some the pocket. I am sort of leaning to the Osmo Action as the Pocket is good, but quite a narrow FOV unless you get a wide angle lens for it, but thats a) cost b) some in stock and you have to remove it before you power off the pocket and put it back in place when you turn it on so a bit of a faff.

So not sure which way to go

On the devices the software is about the same, I'm talking about the software on iPad specifically. There was seemingly a lot more functionality on the iPad gopro software than there was on the Android osmo one.

GoPro definitely has better software than the Osmo Action.

I'm not sure that this is correct. I've found the GoPro software buggy and very resource intensive, whereas the software for the Action just works. This is on an iPhone for me - I've not used the iPad versions.

The GoPro software seems like an add-on. The DJI software feels like the device was designed around it - just like their drones.

In terms of doing a quick edit, adding some simple transitions and making something watchable in a short period of time, from what I've seen, I prefer it. I'll hold my hands up and say I've not tried the GoPro app personally, or explored the osmo action app that much on my phone (not tablet). From what I've seen, I stick by what I've said but I'm happy to change my opinion if I've missed something.
