Hi guys,

The wife is starting a new job soon closer to home so is looking at walking to work rather than drive & would like to track her walks etc.

I've thought of a Garmin forerunner 25, which I think will give her all the options she needs & then she can upload walks etc to Strava or something similar to track her progress/set goals over the year.

Is there anything better/cheaper? Doesn't really need a HRM built in. although if it does have it then fair enough.
Don't really want to use a phone app as we have both used them over the years for tracking walks/cycling & find them a little unreliable.

I've used a Garmin 500 for the past 4 years for cycling & it's never let me down.
One option is I could "upgrade" my old 500 to something newer & give the 500 to her.....:D

A wrist based GPS watch is less reliable and less accurate than a phone based GPS app.

The main thing to decide is if you want to use GPS for.accurate distance measurements, but only outside. Or a pedometer which will give accurate step counts including inside, But less accurate distance and no information on pace or route. In which case a Fitbit or cheap clone will.work. I owned a fitbit and it gave very similar readings to my smartphone s-health app.

What way do you want to track?
Why not just use the phone, with runtastic on it.

Or
Fitbit surge is like a watch with gps, steps, heart rate etc.
